The social media has now remained as the area of attraction for several people for personal and commercial uses. The key is to ensure that the laws, rules and policies in the society that are applicable to the real time scenarios are also applicable to the internet. In that case, the rise of legal and ethical issues has showed that this awareness is extremely low among the users which are the reason for the growing number of issues. The data protection laws clearly state the need to protect the personal data especially on the online platforms (Research at Imperial, n.d). In that case, the people lack awareness and update the personal data. This is released to the public. The social media tools work with collaborators and share the personal information. Hence, the security is not guaranteed to the users. This is again a legal cum ethical issue to the users. There are strict codes of conduct that are launched to the users and administrators of social media. These have been approved by the law firms. The lawyers have clearly mentioned that the presence on social media is purely for the image (Mark, 2013). At this stage, it is the liability of a person to regard the ethical considerations for every act being performed on the platform. The regulations are highly sensitive when it comes to the social media due to the widespread prevalence of misbehavior. When the social media is viewed from the legal perspective, a lawyer has highlighted that there was an article on the benefits in using LinkedIn to build reputation, develop relationships and interact with the clients and peers. This article has given sufficient information in the maintenance of account (Mark, 2013). On the other hand, LinkedIn poses a wide range of negative consequences. When a legal practitioner tries to post message on his victory in the court or negotiation in social media, it remains as a breach of professional duty. The security breach is even awkward. There are numerous spam contacts who can act as the judge and spread information. This is highly illegal (Mark, 2013). It is impossible to determine the legitimacy of a person who has attempted to add you to his or her profile. This is an ethical challenge for several users of the social media. With the increasing prevalence of social media networks like Facebook and Twitter, they influence the administration of justice in the court system of various countries (Harris, 2011). It is identified that some people are unable to limit the social media usage and its privacy. For instance, an NBA player tries to tweet from locker room which is an instance of unethical behavior (Harris, 2011). This can have serious implications in the justice and legal usage. Additionally, the juror tweets on the recent headlines that have happened in the court rooms. This is not just unethical but also illegal. This type of web activity might even prohibit the presence and sustainability of the job to the juror.
